A great trainer always realizes a horses potential despite their breeding. He/ she doesn't believe everything someone tells them, but tests out a horse to see what that horse says he/she can do. That is what Chris Bohenek has found out with "Stoney", a half Kiger Mustang/ Arabian gelding. This horse is far larger than most horses with the same breeding and far more talented. This gelding can stay with a rider all day long and be a pleasant ride, and he can work cattle better than a lot of Quarter Horses bred to work cows. "Surprising" is what Chris said, but what a wonderful surprise!
Chris is currently trainer him in the traditions of the Vaquero. Stoney is very responsive and light. This horse doesn't have to be a cow horse, he has the potential to be a dressage horse, or a jumper. He has great size and fluid movement along with elegance.
Don't tell Stoney that Arabians aren't rope horses because he doesn't know that and he is great at that job also. So much talent he has, that Chris is convined if he keeps him that he would make an awesome finished bridle horse in the tradional Vaquero ways.
If you are looking for a horse that no one else would have, then Stoney would be that horse. He is beautiful along with talented and very athletic and there is a great story that comes along with this gelding; His maternal grandsire is full brother to Donner (Kiger Mustang), who was the horse used as inspiration for the movie, "Spirit".
